MESSAGE FROM MS. BECKY DEAMER, SOCIAL WORK INTERN

September 8, 2009

Hello Parents,

My name is Katie Sears and I am a social work intern working with Mark Lane at Guilderland Elementary School this year. I am currently a second year student in the masters of social work program at SUNY Albany. I earned my undergraduate degree at Syracuse University where my coursework focused on psychology and child and family studies.

Last year, I had the experience of interning at the Center for Disability Services in the residential division, working with children and adults with a variety of developmental disabilities.  As part of my responsibilities, I co-facilitated an assertiveness group as well as a play therapy and sensory group for non-verbal children.

I will be available at Guilderland Elementary School on Thursdays and Fridays throughout the entire school year. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at ktsears@gmail.com. I am looking forward to meeting your children and appreciate the opportunity to get to know each of them during the year.

                                                       Sincerely,
